There are three schools in the village. Honley Infant and Nursery School for ages 3–7, Honley Junior School for ages 7–11, and Honley High School

Churches

The Parish church is St Mary's, a mostly Victorian church, constructed in 1873 on the remains of an earlier church, known as 'Old Peg' built in 1759. Though an earlier building was possibly constructed in 1503. It is surrounded by a burial ground contain many interesting inscribed tomb-stones together with the remnants of a set of village stocks

The annual Honley Agricultural Show takes place on the second Saturday of June. This has used farmland between Honley and Meltham

. This is an event where animal lovers can bring their dogs, horses, cattle, sheep and even mice to be judged "best in show". Craft and local produce stalls are also present around the showground.

Honley has a thriving musical tradition with both Ladies and Male Voice Choirs.

Honley FC

Honley FC field junior teams in age groups beginning at under-6 level right through to under-17 level. All these teams play in the Huddersfield junior football league. The teams play competitive seven-a-side matches from under seven's to under ten's and eleven-a-side matches from under eleven to under seventeen. An adult side with three teams, is currently playing in the Huddersfield and District Association Football League
