s aged three years or older. It is run at Frankfurt over a distance of 2,000 metres (about 1¼ miles), and it is scheduled to take place each year in November.

The event was established in 1967, and it was originally called the Concentra-Pokal. In the first part of its history it was held in July. It was initially contested over 2,550 metres, and it was cut by 50 metres in 1971. The race attained Group 3 status in 1973, and it was shortened to 2,000 metres the following year. It was given its present title in 1979.

The Hessen-Pokal was promoted to Group 2 level in 1987, but it reverted to its former status two years later. For a period thereafter it was sometimes known as the Frankfurt-Pokal or the Frankfurt Cup. Its distance was extended to 2,050 metres in 1999, and it was restored to 2,000 metres in 2001. It was switched to November in 2006.
