Heimberg is a municipality

Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 5.4% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 15.0% and transportation infrastructure made up 10.0%. while parks, green belts and sports fields made up 1.8%. 33.5% of the total land area is heavily forested. Of the agricultural land, 16.3% is used for growing crops and 12.6% is pastures. All the water in the municipality is in rivers and streams.
The municipality is located on the right bank of the Aare river, between the Rotache river in the north and the Zulg river in the south. It includes the village of Thungschneit which became part of the municipality in 1869.
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP
which received 37.3% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the SPS
(17.7%), the FDP
(11.8%) and the local small left-wing parties (9.8%).
The age distribution of the population is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 25% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 62.3% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 12.8%. The entire Swiss population is generally well educated. Of this area, 1.6 km² (0.617763453748056 sq mi) or 29.6% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.85 km² (0.71428899339619 sq mi) or 34.2% is forested.
