Gregorio F. Zaide was a Filipino
historian
and author. A multiawarded author, Zaide wrote 67 books and 500 articles on history. He was one of the founders of the International Association of Historians of Asia (IAHA), and he was also thrice president of the Philippine Historical Association

on 25 May 1907. He was known as "Goyo" to the people of his home town of Pagsanjan, Laguna.
His primary and secondary education were in Spanish, when Spanish was the social language of the Philippines. He graduated as valedictorian of Laguna High School in (1926). He obtained his M.A. in (1931) from the University of the Philippines
and his A.B. and Ph.D. degrees in 1934 from the University of Santo Tomas

His wife's name was Lily Magbanua.
He was a member of Instituto Historico de la Independencia Americana of Argentina
and Instituto Panamericano de Geografia e Historia of Mexico
. He was elected as President of the Philippine Historical Association
and served in this capacity for three terms. He was also an active member of the American Historical Association

Career
Zaide was the first Asian to win the United Nations Study Award in 1957. His other awards includes the Diploma of Outstanding Writings on Filipino National Heroes, A Special Prize in History in the 1940 Commonwealth Literary Contest, the Republic Cultural Heritage Award of 1968, the diploma of Distinction for research on the life and works of Dr. Jose Rizal and the Distinguished Public Service Award.He was a member of Instituto Historico de la Independencia Americana of Argentina
