. Greengairs is a predominantly protestant area with a village flute band, greengairs thistle, and another starting up, Baillieslane core of flutes and drums. The village has a church, a chapel, gospel hall, social club (orange hall), bowling club, two shops and the heritage pub. The heritage pub is said to be haunted but none the less serves great home made food all day to 7pm.
Greengairs landfill site is said to be the biggest in Scotland and sits on the borders of the village. There is no railway link to/from the village and the bus to airdrie operates from 10 to 7 in the morning and the last bus out is 10 to 6 at night.
