Golden Melody Award

The Golden Melody Awards is an annual Taiwanese music award, founded in 1990, presented by Government Information Office
(GIO), Republic of China
. It is usually presented in May, June or July each year and presented for music in Mandarin
, Taiwanese, other Chinese dialects, and Taiwn's aboriginal languages. Musicians from outside Taiwan, particularly from among Chinese language musicians from Southeast Asia are occasionally nominated for awards. It is Taiwan's equivalent to the Grammy Awards. It is one of the three major annual awards presented in Taiwan along with Golden Bell Awards
for television production and Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards
for movies and films.
There are two main streams of categories: Popular Music Category (流行音樂作品類) and Traditional Music Category (傳統暨藝術音樂作品類) and are presented at separate ceremonies.
It was first broadcast on Azio TV
(東風衛視) from 2002 to 2009. From 2010 onwards it was broadcast on Taiwan Television (TTV)
