It should be noted that in car-lifting events of the sort mentioned above, the full mass of the vehicle is not lifted. Instead a system of levers is used to raise one set of wheels off the ground. The load at the competitor's hands is therefore of the order of 4000 Newtons (i.e. would feel like lifting a 400kg barbell). The exact load depends not only on the vehicle mass, but the distribution of that mass, which axle (front/rear) is lifted and also the geometry (i.e. lengths etc.) of the lever arrangements. This means that performances from one competition to another cannot be reliably compared.

Ross's usual catchphrase during strongman competitions is "who's the daddy?!".

His frame is emphasized by his body measurements; his neck is 24 inches (609.6 mm), his biceps 24½ inches, his chest is 63 inches (1,600.2 mm) and his thighs are 35 inches (889 mm), as well as a 50 inches (1,270 mm) waist. He has lost 6 stone over 2009/2010and is now 184kg in weight. Ross has however since returned to the mass consumption of food, and will be increasing his weight to over 550 lbs
