Sports

Glendale has a terrific sport facility. The basketball teams are the most popular, Coach Renee Temple coaches the ladies along side Sarah Singer, Andrea Otto, and Ginger Casteel. The men's team is coached by Sean Williamson. The freshman men's team was undefeated during the 2009-2010 season. The volleyball, wrestling, baseball, track & field, cheer leading, swimming, and football teams have also done exceptionally well, usually ended in championships.

In 2001 and 2003, the GHS Music Department was chosen by the GRAMMY Foundation as being “one of the top high school music programs in the country.”

Glendale’s orchestra is divided in two orchestras: the freshmen and advanced orchestra. Both orchestras receive consistent straight I scores at state competition, the only orchestra in Springfield to do so.

Glendale’s band consists of concert, jazz, and marching bands. They are called the Glendale High School Pride of the Falcon Bands. The marching band has performed in numerous bowl parades, the most recent being the Orange Bowl Parade in 2001.

The Glendale Theatre department is under the direction of Lisa Bettencourt. Glendale Theatre students are a constant talent pool for college theatre departments in Springfield, namely Missouri State University
