The city serves as the Fillmore County seat and is also home to the historic Fillmore County Courthouse. This two-story brick building was built in 1894 and has a prominent three-story clock tower which was installed by jeweler W.P. McCall in 1909. The courthouse underwent a multi-million dollar restoration and conservation project and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Geneva is located approximately 24 miles south of Interstate 80

The city is also home to the Nebraska Butterfly Association which is a nonprofit organization committed to the preservation of butterflies across Nebraska as well as to the development of eco-tourism in the Fillmore County Area.
