General Zionism was initially the term to refer to the beliefs of the majority of members of the Zionist Organization

Political activity in Israel

The General Zionists entered the elections for the first Knesset

 in 1949. They won 5.2% of the vote and seven seats, but were not included in either of David Ben Gurion's coalition governments.
