History

The Fermatta Music Academy first opened its doors in 1993 thanks to the initiative of a group of musicians committed to improving the music industry, not only in Latin America

The main goal in founding an academy like the Fermatta Music Academy was to present future generations with a university where their goals in the music industry could be met with theoretical and practical fundamentals that would insure they would succeed in an industry as competitive as the music industry.

The Fermatta Music Academy has become one of the most prestigious contemporary music universities in the world with large percentage of its graduates being some of the most acclaimed music industry professionals in Latin America. Fermatta Music Academy has also become a recruiting ground for industry professionals due to the level of expertise of its graduates.

New direction

In 2006, after a change of ownership and under a new administration, with the support of the Abbywho Foundation, it has been reshaped from a once a fledgling music school into a prestigious institution of higher learning with changed in to specific areas, infrastructure and study programs. By making these two a priority, it was insured that the study program would be suitable to be able to succeed and meet the demands of the modern music industry.

In order to allow accessibility to musical education of the highest standards to more students, in 2006, the Fermatta Music Academy opened its doors in Guadalajara

 Campus has facilities of the highest industry standards to optimize the learning experience with classrooms for instrumental instruction, musical ensembles, recital halls, production studios, and editing and sound mixing studios.

On the other hand, a scholarship fund was established for the school by the Abbywho Foundation, and destined to benefit the best students. The scholarship covers 100% of the cost throughout their studies.

 Campus is located at the South end of the city, close to the traditional San Angel area. It contains three buildings fully equipped with the necessary infrastructure to teach the most advanced study programs.

The most prominent part of the building are three state of the art recording studios, with vanguard equipment.

The Fermatta Music Academy is the only institution in Mexico and in Latin America that has this state of the art equipment.

Academics

The Fermatta Music Academy also gives preparatory courses to all the students interested in one of our majors. With this, apart from the knowledge and abilities acquired which are necessary for their musical formation, it helps them achieve the level of competitiveness required for professional studies in any area of the musical industry these days.

SEP

The Fermatta Music Academy is the only institute of higher learning of its kind to have for each of its study programs of its majors the official validation from the Secretariat of Public Education. In Mexico, this has been a reference point, the before and after of the professionalization in contemporary music education. Never before has an institute strived for the standardization of its study programs and educative methods.

Major in Music Engineering and Production

The main goal of the major in Engineering and Production is to prepare the students for a professional career in related activities of the musical projects, such as the creation, planning, direction and realization.

This study program was created to give the student the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge and experience to perform professionally.

As a result of assimilating all the indispensable knowledge in this area, such as physics, the fundamentals of sound and the technology necessary to manipulate it, the students will be able to create a design accordingly to the highest expectations of any artist and of the industry at large.

Major in Instrumental Performance

This study program is designed primarily to enlarge the theoretical practical knowledge and develop the abilities of the alumni in such a way that they may perform as the best session musicians and live performers.

Thanks to the study program developed with the purpose of showing our students the wide variety of interpretative aspects, such as improvisation, music reading and composition, the graduate will project a huge dominion of his instrument and of the best execution techniques on stage, as well as the recording studio.

Major in Music Composition

This degree is oriented for students interested in specializing in musical composition, creation techniques, writing, instrumentation and musical arrangement.

The graduates will be able to work in the industry as artistic directors, composers, arrangers, copyists, producers as well as in many other areas apart from having the necessary knowledge to perform professionally with a chosen instrument.
