History
FCI Loretto was originally converted to a Federal Prison Camp (FPC) from the longstanding St. Francis Seminary, in 1985. The campus was built by the Franciscan Friars, T.O.R. in the late 1950s, closing in 1979. The first fifteen or so inmates were volunteers from FPC Allenwood (PA), who worked to help convert the Seminary. These inmates included an ABSCAM US Representative, drug violators, a car thief, two persons accused of misbranding eggs and others who worked hard at Loretto and were rewarded with freedoms not normally awarded at other FPC facilities.Notable inmates
