Eric began his career at McKenna Long & Aldridge in 2001, left to serve as Chief of Staff to Governor Sonny Perdue, Georgia's first Republican Governor in over 130 years, then returned in 2004. He continued his work with Governor Perdue as state coordinator for the 2004 G8 Summit that was held at Sea Island, Georgia and later served as the finance chairman for the Governor's successful reelection campaign. He currently serves as a National Finance Co-Chair of the Republican Governor’s Association.
In 2000, he served as the state chairman for President George W. Bush
's successful Georgia campaign effort and held senior positions in the 1996 Dole and Gramm Presidential campaigns. A longtime advisor to the late U.S. Senator Paul Coverdell
(R-GA), Eric served as vice chairman of Senator Coverdell's successful 1998 reelection campaign, directed Senator Coverdell's 1992 campaign for the U.S. Senate and served as the Senator's State Director in Georgia. From 1989 to 1991, he served in the Administration of President George Bush. At the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, he served as a Special Assistant to Secretary Louis Sullivan focusing on Congressional and legislative affairs. In his role as Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the Peace Corps
, Eric served as the agency's liaison to the White House, Congress and all federal departments and agencies.

He is the co-founder and past chairman of Hands on Georgia, a statewide program to promote volunteerism, and recently served as co-chair for the host committee for the 2008 National Conference for Service and Volunteerism held in Atlanta. He was a member of the Leadership Georgia Class of 2001, Leadership Atlanta Class of 2003 and served as a program chair for Leadership Georgia in 2004.
