In 2009, 520 employees managed a total revenue
of 9.17 billion DKK
with a net profit
of 456 million DKK. Energinet.dk uses all profits from its share of area price differences
to relieve tariffs. These profits were €70m in 2007, €77m in 2008, and €40m in 2009.
An electrical consumption tax dedicated to supporting sustainable electricity producers in Denmark is administered by Energinet.dk. For the first half year of 2010, this constituted 1.91 billion DKK for biomass
, wind power
and similar non-fossil power activities.
In 2008, power transmission was 47 TW·h while gas transmission was 91 TW·h.

History
Energinet.dk was created by a merger of power grid operators Eltra, Elkraft System and Elkraft Transmission, and by natural gas transmission system operator Gastra. The merger took place on 24 August 2005 with retrospective effect from 1 January 2005.Operations and organization
