The station once had two platforms and was a passing place for trains between Harlech and Barmouth. Since the passing loop was lifted all trains use the down platform and the station building on the up platform is today a dwelling. The gated level crossing is controlled by a crossing keeper, who resides in a cabin erected on the up platform. Dyffryn Ardudwy gives its name to the district and to the very extensive beach
