Under an economic realignment plan, the Webster Parish School Board had marked Union Elementary School in Doyline for closure effective with the close of the 2010-2011 academic year. Doyline High School will absorb the elementary pupils.

On August 24, 2006, an explosion of the Explo Systems Inc. site at Camp Minden led to the evacuation of 600 students nearby but caused no injuries or fatalities. The site is a former U.S. Army ammunition plant where military bombs were disassembled and recycled.

The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 3.08.
In the village the population was spread out with 26.0% under the age of 18, 12.1% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 93.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.5 males.
