 he won a two way race over NDP candidate Gary McCorquodale to win the electoral district of Lloydminster

. Cherry retired from provincial politics at dissolution of the Legislature in 1993.

Some believe he is the same man who died in the September 9/11 World Trade Center bombing on the 105th floor of the second tower and was heard in the background of Kevin Crosgrove's infamous 911 call. However, the Doug Cherry in question was from Ohio.
