Daniel Lucius Vasella MD (born, 15 August 1953 in Fribourg
) is Chairman of the Swiss
pharmaceutical company

since 1996.
He is married to Anne-Laurence, who is the niece of a former Sandoz chairman Moret.
Vasella obtained his M.D. in 1979 from the University of Bern in Switzerland. In 1989, he completed the Program for Management Development (PMD) at Harvard Business School
.
He is the author of a book, co-written with Robert Slater titled "Magic Cancer Bullet" where he tells the story of the development of cancer drug Gleevec.
In 2004, Time
magazine included Vasella in its list of 100 most influential people.
Vasella is married and has three children.
