. The Dance Alloy moved off campus in 1980, and two years later Susan Gillis and Elsa Limbach were named co-artistic directors. Limbach became sole artistic director in 1984 and moved the company to studio space in the Carnegie Museum
of Pittsburgh.
Established New York choreographer Mark Taylor became artistic director in 1991 and the company continued to grow, touring extensively both nationally and internationally, and offering dance classes in the community. In 1995 it expanded again, under the executive director Stephanie Flom, building its own state-of-the-art studios and employing six full-time dancers as well as numerous technical staff and arts administrators.

. In 2003, Beth Corning was chosen to be the next artistic director. Corning was the force behind the reconstruction of the company, and "changed its name to better reflect the diversity of this genre." The most recent (as of 2010) Artistic director is Greer Reed-Jones. .
Dance Alloy's mission is something called "Breaking the Fourth Wall." The back wall, when the audience looks at the stage, is referred to as the upstage. The next two walls, are the wings or the sides of the stage, and the fourth wall is the barrier between the audience and the stage. This is the wall that Dance Alloy tries to break. The point of this is to completely engage the audience in the performance. They also set goals to immerse themselves in the community surrounding Dance Alloy, and they achieve this by offering dance education to adults and children of all ages.
The Dance Alloy Theater Company's vast assortment includes pieces in styles from the East, West, North, South, both national and international. Though focusing mainly on a modern style of dance the company also performs numbers that are in the classical ballet style. The company features compositions from some of the nations most in demand choreographers including Donald Byrd, Joe Goode, Marina Harris, Per Jonsson and many other. Through their performances the company has earned much recognition from Pittsburgh media and held two of the top ten spots for best Dance Concert of 2008.
The Company is under the artistic direction of Greer Reed Jones. Ms. Jones is originally from Pittsburgh and also began there. After studying at the University of Performing Arts in Philadelphia, Dance Theater of Harlem and Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, she also performed as a contracted dancer and held several other creative and teaching positions before arriving at dance alloy. Ms. Jones has been with Dance Alloy since June 2009. Along with the artistic director the company also employs five contracted dancers, Maribeth Maxa, Stephanie Dumaine, Christopher Bandy, Michael Walsh and Adrienne Misko. All dancers have training in dance and some in the fine arts. The company is composed of an auditioned group and the occasional apprentice and dancer in training.
A show led by world-renowned choreographers, and is considered their most popular event. The Main Stage Home Seasons are presented twice a year at the Hazlett theatre. Usually accompanied by food, sometimes dinner or dessert. Tickets sell for 20-25 dollars.
Behind the Curtain series
Behind the Curtain is a series of events where the audiences get to meet the choreographers. For 10 dollars, someone can get to see the dancers work in progress of the main-stage production, which is accompanied by a Wine and Cheese selection.
Alloy Open and special events
This event is a chance for artists all on Penn Avenue
to showcase their art, whether it be sculpture, dance, photography, or clothing. This event is usually run through the Unblurred event, that is part of the Penn Arts initiative. This is one of the main ways that Dance Alloy gets involved with the community and is able to publicly show what they are working on.
Local and national tour
On August 1st, 2008 Dance Alloy was honored to perform in Düsseldorf, Germany. This performance was in front of 1,000 choreographers and performers all from 40 different countries.

The Company
The Company is the Dance Alloy Theater's staff performance group, on contract from September to June each year. The group performs a wide variety of styles in their two Main Stage Home Seasons each year at the New Hazlett Theater. The group also performs at local events such as First Night Pittsburgh and tours regionally, nationally and internationally. When on tour the company offers a wide variety of options for their customers to choose from. They have put together performances for both large and very small venues, along with performing the company also offers master classes and participation discussions. School
The Dance Alloy School offers classes in many styles and for all ages. The school operates all year in three major sessions Fall, Spring and Summer and also offers private lessons and private parties. Offering classes for all ages the children can begin as toddlers in the My Grown Up and Me class and continue through age 13 in the Kids Dance Classes. Dance education can then be continued into the teen years in the Teen Hip Hop and Modern Classes. Dance Alloy also has a strong adult dance school and features adult classes in Modern, Ballet, Middle Eastern, Salsa/Merengue and Power Pilates. Summer Dance intensives are also offered at the School and all classes are during evening hours so all can find a time.Performances and events

Outreach
Dance Alloy Theater works with Rogers Creative and Performing Arts Middle School and Creative and Performing Arts High School (CAPA) to reach local performing arts students at a professional level. Dance Alloy also reaches out to organizations that help children with developmental and physical impairments. Such as the Children's Institute and the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children. Youth that are particularly exposed to life in crime-ridden neighborhoods are also among those who the staff members of Dance Alloy work to influence.
