History

The Cypress and Fairbanks school districts (an area now in northwest Houston) consolidated in 1939 and yet another new facility was built. Cy-Fair High School was opened in the spring of 1941. Cy-Fair High School remained the only high school (not including Carverdale High School, the African-American school prior to integration) in the Cy-Fair CSD (now ISD) until Jersey Village High School

 opened in 1972. There are now 11 high schools in CFISD.

The school, which had expanded for several decades beyond the original 1941 design, was modernized after the 1999-2000 school year. Additional classrooms were added during the renovation. The façade at the front main doors remain.

The school has approximately 35 active student clubs, including Model United Nations, National Honor Society, and one of the largest Key Clubs in the state of Texas. Seventy percent of Cy-Fair High School graduates go on to college.

In 2008 The Girls Basketball team defeated DeSoto to win their first ever State Championship. The Lady Bobcats repeated as State Champs in 2010.

The 1970-71 Boy's basketball team was the Texas State Champ and voted as the National Champions. The boys basketball team also went to the Final Four in 1969-70 and 1977-78.

Cy-Fair High School was named an Honor Roll School by the Just For Kids/TBEC (Texas Business and Education Coalition) for the 2 nd year in a row. Only 1 of 12 schools in the state of Texas selected based on high academic standards for 3 consecutive years.

ROTC was recognized as one of the outstanding units in the state – rarely awarded to a first year program

CyFair High School had more National Merit Finalists than any other high school in the Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District for the 2010-2011 school year.
