The glacier has split into two separate glaciers, with the smaller section on the west (Bridger/Sublette County) side of the Continental Divide and the larger section on the east (Fitzpatrick/Shoshone/Fremont County). Though not long, the glacier is almost 2 miles (3.2 km) wide and has very little altitude change along its course, lying at an average altitude of 12500 feet (3,810 m).
