Information
The most famous that is not just its natural beauty is that tourism dominates the industry and has a beach, hotels, spas, restaurants, taverns, etc. Hotels include Hanioti Village and many others. The most infamous was that on August 26, 2006, a forest fire ravaged Chanioti and devastated much of the forests and buildings in the outskirts of the area and was one of the northernmost that was in the danger zone. Several houses and villas were burnt. Hydro was snapped out and roads were closed.
