History

Because of ancient occupation, dating from the colonial period, Catete still has many historic buildings. The district has been one of the noblest of the city before the transfer of the capital city from Rio de Janeiro to Brasília. After the transfer, the district had a certain decline, mainly due to the decline in real state value.
