Cat the Dog supported rising Welsh act the Automatic and The Kooks. The band which recorded with producer Jack Douglas at Hook End Studios in Reading released singles "I'm a Romantic" and "Gotta Leave". They were played on MTV's Spanking New Music. In November 2007 the band were involved in a near fatal car crash while traveling to their gig and had to escape from their van by breaking a window and climbing out. They split up shortly after in Dec 2007 after a tour with Zico Chain

In 2008, Cat the Dog drummer Andy Newton and Kooks guitarist and song writer Max Rafferty formed the band The Third Man.
