and started his career at Club Atlético Huracán
in 1969, he was part of the team that won the Metropolitano

In 1974, he was transferred to the German

, though he had also considered an offer from Stoke City due to his English ancestry.
Babington returned to Huracán in 1979 and played for the club until 1982, when he moved to Florida

to cash in at the Tampa Bay Rowdies. He retired from football later that year.
Babington scored 126 goals for Huracán in his 8 years with the club, he later went on to manage the team between 1988 and 1991, and he became president of Club Atlético Huracán in 2005.
