, Benzelius was brought up at the home of his grandfather, Bishop Jesper Svedberg. He was then guided by his uncle Henry Benzelius in Lund University and was there in 1738 graduated to Master of Arts, after which he was a few years spent in England, France and Holland. In 1741 he became extraordinary and ordinary court-preacher in 1742. Between 1743–44, he made a new travels abroad, and dwelt especially in Helmstedt, where he made his disputation
