While almost all the concerts presented are in the Burnside Ballroom at the Burnside Townhall, the orchestra often repeats performances outside the adelaide metropolitan area offering rural townships the chance to hear popular classical music performed live. Most members reside in the metropolitan area, with the majority of them from the Burnside & surrounding council areas.

History

The Orchestra was formed in 1956 by a small group of musicians. The orchestra has grown slowly to its current size of over 50 players. Members consist of a mix of amateur and semi-professional musicians.

Concerts

The orchestra aims to present 4 different programs each year, and often performs each program twice - once at its residence, the Burnside Ballroom, and once outside the council area. Country venues in the past have included Tanunda in the Barossa Valley

Conductors

The orchestra's music director since 2010 is Bryan Griffiths. Conductors in the past have included Alwin Kidney, Joanna Drimatis, Martin Butler and Kim Worley.
