Brian Loughnane

Brian Loughnane is the current Federal Director of the Liberal Party of Australia
and has served in this role since February 2003. He was born in Geelong, Victoria
and was educated in Colac, Victoria
. He graduated with an Honours degree in Political science
from LaTrobe University.
Loughnane worked in Industrial Relations at Shell
from 1982-1992. He was an advisor to Vin Heffernan the Minister for Small Business in the Kennett
government. In 1994 he became Chief of Staff to Leader of the Opposition

. When Downer lost the leadership he was Chief of Staff to John Howard
until late 1995.
From October 2000 to February 2003 he was State Director of the Victorian Division of the Party. He was campaign direcotr for the Aston by-election, 2001
and the Victorian state election, 2002.
Upon his appointment as Federal Director he has served as Campaign Director for the party at the federal election in 2004, 2007 and 2010.
Loughnane is married to Tony Abbott
's Chief Of Staff, Peta Credlin.
