. Among other projects, he has produced the TV short A Day in the Life of Jenny McCarthy
, and was co-director of the 1991 documentary Two Rooms: A Tribute to Elton John & Bernie Taupin
and the mini-series Sex in the 90s.
He was a director on the first season of the MTV
reality television series The Real World: New York
in 1992. His association with that series came to an end when he moved on-screen and became romantically involved with one of the cast, Rebecca Blasband, when the show vacationed in Jamaica
. This incident led to the establishment of a production rule preventing crew members from associating socially with the cast.
Before starting his career in video production
, Richmond spent several years training to be a pilot
at the Florida Institute of Technology
, but had to leave that profession due to impaired depth perception
. While at F.I.T., Richmond got his first taste of the entertainment industry by performing with the F.I.T. College Players as "Writer" in Neil Simon
's The Good Doctor.
Richmond studied television/video production at Florida State University. For a class project in 1982, he filmed a day trip to St. George's Island beach with a friend, edited the film down to two and one half minutes and synched it to music. This film was played on the FSU student television show "1800 Seconds."
