Geography

Belp has an area, , of 17.59 km² (6.8 sq mi). Of this area, 9.64 km² (3.7 sq mi) or 54.8% is used for agricultural purposes, while4.43 km² (1.7 sq mi) or 25.2% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 3 km² (1.2 sq mi) or 17.1% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.49 km² (0.189190057710342 sq mi) or 2.8% is either rivers or lakes and 0.05 km² (12.4 acre) or 0.3% is unproductive land.

Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 1.3% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 8.9% and transportation infrastructure made up 5.6%. 23.9% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.3% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 40.0% is used for growing crops and 13.8% is pastures. All the water in the municipality is in rivers and streams.
