Founded as the Junior Agricultural School of Central Arkansas in 1927, Arkansas State University Beebe's campus has evolved and grown to become a center for long-distance learning and technical trade programs in central Arkansas. The school has been affiliated with the Arkansas State University System
since 1955. State Hall, the campus' administration building constructed in 1949, is among both the oldest buildings on the campus and in Beebe's educational community. In the fall of 2005, ASU-Beebe had the second highest enrollment among Arkansas's two-year colleges and universities, trailing only Pulaski Technical College

Further investigation revealed the birds fell over a one-mile (1.6 km) area of Beebe, with no other dead birds found outside that concentrated zone. The birds showed signs of physical trauma, leading one ornithologist with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to speculate the blackbirds might have been killed by lightning, high-altitude hail or possibly even fireworks. The birds were sent to laboratories in Georgia and Wisconsin for necropsies and to determine the cause of death. On January 5, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission confirmed that the incident was caused by a resident setting off professional-grade fireworks

quarterback Barry Lunney, Jr. was a junior high student at Beebe while his father, Barry Lunney, Sr., was head football coach at Beebe High School (1987–1988). Mel Hanks, a longtime reporter at Little Rock's KARK-TV, who was known for his investigative reporting, lived in Beebe at one time with his wife and son. Jan Hines Faubus, former wife of controversial Arkansas governor Orval Faubus

John Adams, who attended and played basketball at Beebe High School, and in 1941, was a member of the Arkansas Razorbacks Final Four team, is credited by some as being the inventor of the jump shot. Also, Michael Robertson who lived in Beebe as a toddler, qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics

A.S."Bro" Erwin, who was a longtime football and basketball coach at Beebe High School and a longtime superintendent, coached Beebe High School to the 1941 Class A boys state championship and is in the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame. . Just like many towns in central and north central Arkansas, Beebe was formed near a railroad and the Union Pacific railroad tracks traverse through the south and east portions of town. Beebe High School athletics
Beebe High School's mascot is the Badger and the school colors are cardinal and white. The Badgers have a rich tradition of competing for and winning conference and state championships. Beebe High School is a member of the Arkansas Activities Association(AAA) and currently competes in the 5A East Conference, which has as its members, Batesville High, Paragould High, Blytheville High, Greene County Tech High(Paragould), Forrest City High, Wynne High, and Nettleton High(Jonesboro). Beebe High School's football and basketball games are carried on Searcy radio station KSMD(NewsTalk 99.1), 99.1 FM. In 2010, Beebe High School won two state championships, Weightlifting and Baseball. The baseball Badgers defeated Monticello High by a score of 6-2 in the Class 5A state championship game, which was played at Baum Stadium, located on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville. In 2005, Beebe High School competed for two state championships in Softball and Cross Country. The Lady Badger softball team lost by a score of 2-1 to Batesville High, and the boys Cross Country team won the Class 5A meet, which was held in Hot Springs. Total, Beebe High has won state championships in boys basketball(1941), boys cross country(1964, 1966, 1969, 2005), girls track(1998), weightlifting(2010), boys golf(2002), baseball(2010) and wrestling(2011). Beebe High's football team plays their home games at A.S. "Bro" Erwin Stadium, which was completed in 1985. Beebe High's basketball teams play their home games at Badger Sports Arena, which opened in 2001 and replaced the Beebe High gymnasium, which was destroyed in a tornado that hit the city of Beebe on January 21, 1999.
