History

The name "Beanibazar", correct spelling is 'Bihani Bazaar' which means "morning market". In the past, Beanibazar was surrounded mostly by jungle

s that attacked people regularly at night. They made it almost impossible for the residents to go the bazaar after dusk to buy or sell daily necessary items. For this reason most of the shopping activities was held in the morning and hence the name Beanibazar.Previously, Beanibazar was called "Pancha Khanda" which means "Five Parts". Beanibazar is one of the upazilas in Sylhet which has the largest numbers of expatriates living in the United Kingdom , United States , Canada , Saudi Arabia, U.A.E, Kuwait, Bahrain, and some other parts of the Middle East.

Beanibazar is located at 24.8250°N 92.1625°E. It has 27,089 units of household and a total area of 253.22 km².
