Its current Member of the Legislative Assembly
is Chris d'Entremont
of the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia.
The riding is situated on the southern-most tip of Nova Scotia. The population is mostly French-speaking Acadian
s. It consists of the Municipality of the District of Argyle
which contains the communities of Wedgeport, Argyle, and a number of Pubnicos. Its main business is the fisheries along with manufacturing and services. The riding was created in 1981 and was originally part of Yarmouth. A Tory stronghold, Argyle has been dominated by Progressive Conservatives Chris d'Entremont and Neil LeBlanc for over two decades, with the exception of one Liberal seat in their 1993 majority government
and is considered a safe Conservative seat.
