In the 2010-2011 season, the Patriots went undefeated in the regular season, ranked number one and became the current sectional champions by defeating Germantown in double overtime with a last second layup after an inbound pass with a repeat 3.8 seconds remaining. They went on to state, eventually earning 3rd with an overall record of 26-1.

The Appleton East DECA Chapter is one of the top in the state of Wisconsin, consistently winning awards as a chapter, for their advisor, and for their students at the DCDC, SCDC and ICDC levels. Cross Country and Track and Field
Appleton East has had some notable Cross Country and Track and Field athletes graduate recently. Their 2009 cross country team was ranked #1 in the state going into their conference meet, but injuries and sickness took their toll on the team. In the 2010 Track and Field season, the Patriots sent many athletes onto the State Competition in LaCrosse. Taylor Wardall won the 1600 meter run and took second in the 800 meter run. Their 4x800 meter relay team took second place. After graduating many great runners, the Patriots were not expected to perform well in the 2010 season. A bright spot for the season was when Dan Schubert won the State Cross Country Championship. Schubert is the first person in East history to win the Cross Country individual championship. He also went on to win the 3200 meter state championship in the 2011 track season. In addition to winning that, he also placed third in the 1600 meter run.Since Appleton East opened in 1967, Joe Perez has been the Head Coach for Cross Country and also an Assistant coach for Track and Field.
