based on both latency and loss rate measurements.
  • More accurate loss-detection algorithm under complicated packet loss scenarios.
  • Inbound traffic bandwidth control and heuristic inbound acceleration.

IPEQ (IP End-to-End QoS)

IPEQ is a set of traffic regulation algorithms designed and implemented by AppEx. The major difference compared with the products from other companies is how the inbound traffic is regulated. While most of them use Policers which simply discard the nonconformant packets, IPEQ attacks this from controlling the feedback channel on the opposite direction, which is also referred to as Inbound Shaping. Inbound Shaping effectively controls the peer senders to minimize the packet losses, which converts to much less wasted bandwidth than simple Policing.

IPEQ offers the following:
  • Effective inbound traffic regulation (Inbound Shaping).
  • Behavior-base and DPI
    Deep packet inspection

    -based traffic classification.
  • Traffic prioritization.
  • Bandwidth fair sharing.

Hyper Compression

Hyper Compression is AppEx's implementation of data reduction when both parties of the communication have AppEx devices or virtual appliances deployed. The data reduction methods can be either or both of the following:
  • Data compression (e.g., zlib compression).
  • Byte Caching: transmitted data are cached so that further repetition or sub-segment of the same data can be reduced to a short vector of a few bytes long.

to the systems that it resides in. It typically runs on web servers or application servers to accelerate the content delivery to the remote clients. Compared with the caching technologies offered by other vendors, since Zeta-TCP works directly on the TCP protocol level, it is capable of expedite dynamic contents very well. LotServer accelerates the content delivery without any special requirements or installations on the client side.

Application Bandwidth Controller

Application Bandwidth Controller (ABC) is AppEx's PC software to monitor/regulate applications' bandwidth usage, providing prioritization and fairness among the applications.
