Anne-Marie Helder is a British
singer-songwriter
who has performed throughout the UK since 2000, beginning with bands and then going solo in 2004. Her debut EP The Contact was released in November 2004, securing her airplay on BBC Radio 2, with Bob Harris
declaring: "that is very dramatic music". UK national music magazine Classic Rock gave her a 8/10 review. Since releasing The Contact, Helder has toured across the UK, into Europe and the USA. In 2005 she supported Fish
on his Return to Childhood tour and has continued to support artists as a solo acoustic performer including, most recently Nick Harper
and Ultravox
.
She currently works with 2 bands, which are separate projects to her solo songwriting:
Panic Room is a new band based in Wales, UK, and Helder has co-written their first album Visionary Position
with keyboardist Jonathon Edwards. From 2001 to 2004, Helder was a member of the Welsh band Karnataka
, along with Edwards and two other members of Panic Room (Paul Davies and Gavin John Griffiths). When the band split in 2004, these four continued to work together. In April 2008 the band played their first UK dates, and the debut album had its official release through Voiceprint
distribution. The band toured further in late 2008. In late 2009 the band performed a few select shows after completing work on their second album Satellite
which is released on 25 January 2010, again through Voiceprint
distribution. A special edition of the album was available at live shows and direct from the band's website which included a second CD titled Little Satellite
with an additional 4 tracks including "Sandstorms" which has already become a firm favourite live. Panic Room
are due to tour again in early 2010 in support of the Satellite album.
Mostly Autumn
are a rock band, based in York
. Helder first collaborated with the band when she played some solo supports for them in 2007, and later that year she agreed to 'dep' for flautist/keyboardist Angela Gordon while the latter took some maternity time to have her first child. In early 2008, there were many shuffles to the line-up of the band, and as both Ms Gordon and keyboardist Chris Johnson left to pursue other projects, Helder was invited to join them to play keyboards, acoustic guitar
, flute and backing vocals. Helder recorded vocals and flute with Mostly Autumn on the 2008 album Glass Shadows
and toured with them on all their 2008 shows.
She has also guested with the Icon project by John Wetton
and Geoff Downes
