A few days later it was reported that she had "become anxious to explore new opportunities in television and digital content distribution" and that she wanted to work on a project that helped to develop a new integrated lifestyle content platform. It was reported that "along with manager and business partner, Brett Gullan, the two have joined forces with Hong Kong-based branded-content production company, The Media Village, to develop and produce lifestyle and factual entertainment content exclusively for Rao."
According to Rao, working hours in the highly competitive international news television business have been reason for looking to a more family-friendly job opportunity. In 2010, Rao had her first baby with husband and manager Gullan, a Hong Kong based web designer.
