 1xEV-DO (1xEvolution Data Optimized) networks. 1xEV-DO is a third generation broadband wireless packet data technology that is enabling wireless service providers to provide mobile broadband connectivity. As of April 2008, there were more than 100 million EV-DO subscribers.

Airvana’s HubBub femtocells products are small cellular access points that connect to a mobile operator’s network through broadband (such as DSL or cable) internet connections. They are designed to improve coverage for mobile phone users inside buildings. Airvana’s femtocells currently support CDMA mobile networks. A previous UMTS femtocell product was disbanded in September 2010.

Airvana is also involved in the fixed mobile convergence (FMC) market. FMC refers to the trend to provide both fixed and mobile telephony services via a single phone that can switch between networks. Airvana’s Universal Access Gateway provides security and other networking functions for mobile operators who provide access to their networks via Wi-Fi networks or femtocells.
