Adamstown railway station is a recently opened station serving the new town of Adamstown
. It is on the Kildare line between Hazelhatch and Celbridge railway station
and Clondalkin
railway stations, just south of the old Lucan South station which closed in 1947. It opened on 10 April 2007. South Western Commuter

The station has three through platforms, and is the first Commuter station on the line (other than Dublin Heuston
) to have more than two platforms, although this will change following the completion of the Kildare Route Project which will lead to the line becoming four-tracked.
The station is the first railway station in recent times to be built and paid for by private developers rather than by public money. Another Dublin railway station, Phoenix Park
on the Western Commuter
line, was built in the same way.
