Aajonus Vonderplanitz is an American
nutritional consultant, speaker, author, and raw food diet
advocate residing in Malibu, California. , Aajonus has been eating an all-raw diet for 38 years. He developed a diet he called the "Primal Diet", (not to be confused with the, albeit somewhat similar but broader, "Primal diet" advocated by Mark Sisson

In 1997, he authored a book entitled We Want To Live which included a brief autobiography as well as his raw diet theories and recipes, and he produced an enlarged updated edition of this book in 2005. His second book, The Recipe for Living Without Disease, was published in 2002.
In 2009, Vonderplanitz diet was featured as the most extreme health approach on The Doctors TV series episode "Ten Most Extreme Health Trends". In 2002, Vonderplanitz and his diet received national prime time
TV exposure in the U.S. and many countries of the world with a featured segment, "Rotten Meat Eater", on Ripley's Believe It or Not. He has also appeared in radio interviews such as Kim Cohen's "Raw To Radiant" show.
Aajonus is the president of the campaign group, "Right To Choose Healthy Food" and has repeatedly urged the state of California
to relax restrictions on the sale of raw dairy, with some success in 2001 and 2007. Aajonus' and others' most recent campaign to lift restrictions on the amount of coliform bacteria
was only 2 votes shy of unanimous support with legislative bill SB201 in 2008 in State Senate and Assemlby but was vetoed by Governor Schwarzenegger
