Established on 15 April 1960 by Strategic Air Command
at Carswell AFB, Texas and assigned to the 43d Bombardment Wing. The squadron was never equipped or manned and inactivated on 15 Jul 1960. Reactivated under the 4047th Strategic Wing at McCoy AFB, Florida on 1 September 1961 equipped with KC-135 Stratotanker
s. Moved to Turner AFB, Georgia in 1963, being assigned to the 484th Bombardment Wing when the 4047th was inactivated. Deployed to the Western Pacific, 1966-1967 to support SAC operations along with tactical aircraft flying combat missions over Indochina
during the Vietnam War

Returned to Turner AFB in 1967; reassigned back to the 306th BMW at McCoy AFB when the 484th BMW inactivated along with Turner AFB. Remained at McCoy until 1971 when inactivated; equipment and personnel being consolidated into the 306th ARS.
