 minutes before it impacted with the ground, and the crew were reportedly trying to attempt an emergency landing. The pilot of the aircraft, who survived the crash said that they had an electrical short circuit

 developing into a fire on board. It was reported that the flight crew decided to make a landing as soon as they could. However, their attempts were unsuccessful and the Russian-built turboprop crashed in a rice field near the town of Mexico, Philippines

. The aircraft broke up upon impact and burst into flames. A bulletin from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said there were 3 Russians, 2 Uzbekis, and 1 Bulgarian on the plane.

Investigation

The director-general of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Alfonso Cusi told reporters that authorities have recovered the aircraft's flight data recorder

, and investigations are ongoing. "The cause of the crash looks to be a technical problem with the aircraft's electrical system" he said. However, as of yet the cause of the fire and the crash are still unknown.
