approach but nothing more was heard. The aircraft had crashed 12 km (7.5 mi) from the destination airport.
The probable cause of the accident was the fact that the aircraft got below the prescribed altitude limits as a consequence of having deviated from the instrument flight rules

(c/n 12319), was originally in the service of US Army Air Forces (USAAF) with serial number 92510 from 1942 on. It was flown by the Royal Air Force
as Dakota III, KG322 until July 25, 1945 to return to the USAAF. The aircraft was purchased by the Devlet Hava Yolları (Turkish State Airlines, predecessor of the Turkish Airlines). Since January 14, 1958, it was at the Turkish Airlines as TC-ETI.
