15th Street – Prospect Park is a local station
on the IND Culver Line
of the New York City Subway
. It is served by the F
and G
trains at all times.
The station has two local tracks and an island platform
on the upper level and two express tracks on a lower level. The mezzanine
is full length and has a minimum of two former booths, one for the two exits to Prospect Park West and another near the 16th Street staircase. Because of the way the tunnel was built, the station is not located underneath a street. Instead the station and tunnel were constructed about 100 feet east of Prospect Park West. Therefore, some portions of the tunnel are directly underneath Prospect Park
and others between the west side of the park and 10th Avenue. From north to south, the five street stairs are located as follows:
The current booth is located closer to the Windsor Place side. The full length passageway allows out of system walking from one end to another while the area inside fare control does not. The tile band is now orange-yellow.
