operations in Croatia
being based in Split
from February 1942, as part of the Italian XVIII Corps, it was also involved in the Battle of the Neretva. In January 1943, it was recalled to Italy
and sent to Rome
as part of the citys defence. It was disbanded after the Italian surrender to the Allies
in September 1943.
In 1988 the Sassari Mechanized Brigade
was formed, Sassari Brigade continues the tradition of Sassari Division.
