Žiri is a town and a municipality in of Slovenia
. It lies in the extreme southwest part of the Upper Carniola
region on the borders with the Inner Carniola and the Littoral
regions at the end of the valley where a number of tributaries
join to become the river Poljanska Sora. The municipality was created in 1994. Prior to this the town belonged administratively to Škofja Loka
.
