Brief history

At beginning, the university was a war-period university during the Second Sino-Japanese War

. During the war time, the Zhejiang Provincial Government founded the university in November 1938, and formally opened it to the public in Feb 1939.

1939-1943, it was a Zhejiang provincial public university (省立英士大學/省立英士大学). 1943, it was promoted to the status of National, namely National Yingshi University (國立英士大學/国立英士大学), till its dissociation in 1949.

, the Jinhua Civic Military Control Committee (金華市軍管會/金华市军管会) controlled the university and further dissociated it. Many of its faculties joined the Zhejiang University

, and most of its students who wanted to continue their educations were transferred into the Zhejiang University.
