The name is used predominately by people who live in the Dee Why area of Wingala and wish to disassociate themselves from the rest of Dee Why. This is because the Wingala locality contains many more upmarket properties than the rest of Dee Why, which is well known in the area for its many apartment

Wingala Reserve can be found on the southern slope of Wingala Hill, on the border between Dee Why and North Curl Curl. It is a piece of crown land
