The party was formed at the time of a split in the BC Reform Party
between party members who wanted to merge the party into the Unity Party
, and those who wanted to continue under the BC Reform name.
Maskell and her supporters wanted to sit the fight out, establishing the Western Reform Party as a temporary measure until the schism was healed.
Haskell won 621 votes or 4.1% of the total for the riding.
