We Are Little Barrie
Encyclopedia
We Are Little Barrie was the debut album from Little Barrie
, released in 2005. They recorded the album over a series of 23 Wednesdays at producer Edwyn Collins
’ West Heath Studios.
Barrie said about the album "When we were doing the first album, we didn't have a record deal, so there was no real pressure on us. We could make the album exactly how we wanted to."
The album was recorded on two live rooms with the idea of catching the freshness of a live performance. "Playing straight into the amps, playing all the backing tracks live, and doing no more than three takes" were in Cadogan's words the basis for the recordings.
Among the gear used in the studio were a ’62 Gibson ES-330, a Traynor Studio Mate, a Gretsch Chet Atkins and a Fender ’69 Vibralux 2x10. The mics were mostly old Neumanns—although the odd [Shure] SM57 was used, as well.
